(LIVERMORE, Calif.) — Dumont Creamery & Cafe celebrated its grand opening in Livermore on September 18, welcoming community members to its new location at 2375 Railroad Avenue Suite 101, with a menu featuring globally inspired ice cream, coffee, and boba.
OpGov.News met with one of the cafe’s owners, Ajay Wisawe, to learn more. According to Wisawe, the occasion marked not only the launch of a new business but also an opportunity to give back to the community where he has lived for the past decade.

“We had our mayor today to welcome us,” Wisawe said. “We also had all the ambassadors and the community.” He described the opening as a special occasion and said the cafe’s menu reflects both international influences and his background in India.
“Today is a very special day for us because we have globally inspired flavors as well as flavors from India,” he said. “That’s where I’m from.”
Wisawe said his connection to Livermore helped inspire him to open the café, and that his ten years in the region has inspired him, “To give back to the community.”
The concept behind Dumont Creamery & Cafe draws on flavors the owners have encountered through international travel. The goal, Wisawe said, of the company’s products, is to bring those experiences to customers while incorporating Indian influences.
“The primary inspiration for the brand is they travel globally, taste flavors in different countries and try to replicate the palate in India,” he said. Wisawe also emphasized the cafe’s approach to its ice cream, saying, “These are not machine-made ice creams. These are gourmet ice creams.”
Wisawe said the products are designed to be rich in flavor and that the cafe pays close attention to its ingredients. For example, The cafe uses shade-grown coffee, which is cultivated under shade rather than direct sunlight. He explained that growing coffee under shade can help preserve characteristics associated with the bean and its flavor.
“And what that means is that the flavor, you know, everything that’s related to the bean doesn’t get lost…For the coffee lovers, the bean is very strong,” he added.
Beyond ice cream and coffee, the cafe also offers boba and other drinks intended to appeal to a wide range of customers.
“We have multiple drinks for the entire family,” Wisawe said.
For Wisawe, the grand opening was ultimately about establishing a connection with the community he has called home for 10 years. He invited residents to visit the cafe, try its offerings and share their feedback.
“Please feel free to stop by,” he said, "to try all our flavors and give us some feedback and encourage us.”
With its combination of globally inspired flavors, Indian influences, ice cream, coffee and boba, Dumont Creamery & Cafe is now welcoming customers in Livermore as the business begins building its presence in the community.
