(CHARLOTTE, NC.) – Charlotte was named one of LinkedIn's 2026 Cities on the Rise, placing the metro area among the nation's fastest-growing regions for job growth, hiring activity, and professional talent attraction.
The annual ranking identified 25 U.S. metropolitan areas experiencing growth in employment opportunities and workforce movement.
LinkedIn analyzed data from its professional platform, including hiring trends, workforce expansion, and migration patterns among cities with fewer than 2.5 million LinkedIn members.
LinkedIn's 2026 dataset ranks Charlotte at No. 15 on its Cities on the Rise list, citing strong hiring trends across credit, tech, and real estate alongside rapid population growth.

Charlotte's inclusion reflects continued growth across several major industries, including financial services, technology, health care and advanced manufacturing. The region has become one of the Southeast's largest employment centers, attracting both companies and workers seeking new career opportunities.
Charlotte has maintained a strong presence in the financial services sector, serving as the headquarters for Bank of America and Truist Financial. Wells Fargo also maintains a significant employment hub in the region, while companies such as Honeywell have expanded their operations in the area.
Uptown Charlotte's vibrant skyline features corporate and financial headquarters, reflecting the region's position as the second-largest banking center in the nation.

Beyond finance, Charlotte has continued developing its technology and health care sectors. Employers have added positions in fields including software development, data analytics, engineering, medical services and professional support.
The region's economic expansion has contributed to continued population growth and increased demand for housing, transportation and public services. Local leaders and business organizations have focused on workforce development and infrastructure planning as Charlotte continues attracting residents and employers.
LinkedIn's ranking reflects a broader shift toward midsize metropolitan areas that provide growing career opportunities outside some of the country's largest employment markets.
The company evaluated cities based on hiring growth, professional migration and workforce trends.
The report comes as employers continue to assess locations based on access to skilled workers, economic conditions and long-term growth potential.
Pensacola was also included in LinkedIn's 2026 Cities on the Rise ranking. In “Pensacola Makes LinkedIn's Top 25 List,” reported by OpGov.News journalist Angela Underwood, the publication detailed how the Florida metro was recognized among the fastest-growing U.S. regions for jobs and incoming talent.
Both Charlotte and Pensacola's inclusion highlight a broader pattern of expanding metropolitan areas attracting workers through new employment opportunities and industry growth.
Greenway paths and light rail transit accommodate Charlotte's expanding population as workers and residents move into regional neighborhoods.

Augusta, Georgia, ranked No. 1 on LinkedIn's 2026 Cities on the Rise list, followed by Richmond, Virginia; Reno, Nevada; North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida; and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
