Empowering communities through transparent governance
(PENSACOLA) --- When a journalist drops a dog victim story because they took offense to another outlet's coverage, it's a clear sign there is no integrity in journalism, proven by PNJ's own Mollye Barrows and backed by Gannett Executive Editor Lisa Nellessen Savage.
Long story short, after reporting on dog attack victims Theresa Cavnar and Teri Bozeman, I have contacted local media outlets, specifically WEAR, cc'ing two reporters I used to work with there.
Six weeks later, after interviewing Cavnar twice and losing the first recording, Cavnar had to tell her story over again, only to be told by Barrows that she is no longer interested after seeing my story on Nextdoor that mentions her.
She sent the text at 2 a.m., which was both unprofessional and disrespectful.

After receiving the three texts, I informed Cavnar she should not respond to Barrows text anymore and sent the below email to her supervisors, cc'ing Cavnar and Barrows.

While major media outlets and local officials ignore Cavnar and Bozeman, I am even more determined, as you read in the email, to ensure no one who ignores victims will remain unseen, and their lack of response goes on the record for further use.
And as for Barrow's attacks on me. I, too, am an award-winning journalist of 20 years, ironically receiving an award as a Gannett Reporter in 2007 under my maiden name Santoriello, as seen in this link. Paula Scully and I won the New Jersey Press Association Lloyd P. Burns Public Service Award.
So sorry, Barrows, I am not a vlogger as you charge; I am just like you, except I have kept my integrity through it all.
I will not stop fighting for Cavnar, Bozeman, and others who remain scared of Escambia County Animal Welfare ignoring them.
You and Gannett stopped, giving the public all the more reason not to trust you.
