Escambia County Commissioner's Office Ignores Questions in Dog Attack

(PENSACOLA) --- The Escambia County Animal Welfare Director John Robinson admits the agency completely failed when it came to a dog attack on Theresa Cavnar last week, and now the county refuses to answer questions.

Since OpGov.ai reported on the nearly fatal dog attack last week, the story has garnered nearly 3K hits, as seen here.

OpGov.ai shared the local incident four days after it happened, while also emailing Cavnar's District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry to make him aware of the county's failed public safety policy regarding dog attacks.

However, after five days of hearing nothing from anyone, I called yesterday morning to speak to Robinson.

He did not call back, but I did hear from Escambia County Commissioner Public Information Officer Kaycee Lagarde.

As you can see from the emails below, she decided she didn't like the questions I asked her today about the attack.

Barry and Lagarde's lack of concern is at least equalized by locals, who have shared how the officials have failed Canvar to a serious fault, as you can read below.

While some demand the dog be put down, others share their concern for the trauma Canvar suffers.

Cavnar has made it clear through our communication this week via text that her first concern is the children in the neighborhood.

It took six days for them to remove the dog that did to her. Not to mention, the county put the burden of proof on her, as noted in the original report.

What if it was one of the children, is all she continues to ask as she lies almost completely disabled, unable to eat and move her arms due to nerve damage the dog caused.
