(PENSACOLA) --- There is no other way to say it.
Mayor D.C. Reeves, Pensacola City Council, and the Escambia County Commissioners apparently don't care about mental illness in the community.

Why?
The J.U.S.T. (Justice United Seeking Transformation) Pensacola Mental Health Steering Committee and staff sent each official a certified letter by mail on January 22, inviting them to the Nehemiah Action Assembly on Tuesday night, attended by 700 community members.
“We also contacted them by telephone and email in the more recent days before the Assembly, inviting them to meet with a small group to review who we are,” an email to attendees after the event reads.
Like the email, the group even called out officials on their Facebook page, seen below.

The email continues noting the group wanted to share the “researched and widely endorsed project to significantly increase the awareness and coordination of the 211 and call lines,” which assist community members struggling with mental health.
OpGov.News previewed the event, detailing J.U.S.T.'s mission and projects regarding mental health, affordable housing, and criminal justice.
"We expected that our public officials would attend to exercise their public responsibilities with an audience of over 700 members of our community," the email read. "None of them accepted that invitation."
The group went so far as to provide officials “with the exact wording of the questions, assuring them that we would not surprise them with new information or questions.”

It still didn’t matter.
The group did disclose in the email that “one official was in the building, but we treated that person as an attendee because they asked not to be engaged as an elected official.”
Former Councilman Sherri Myers attended, even prompting others to do the same.
And it still didn’t matter.
Now it comes down to an email that ends with a call to action, encouraging attendees to secure funding for the two-year pilot program.
They even included a script.

Below is a list of all official contacts, gratis J.U.S.T., making it as easy as possible to reach out to the mayor, council, and county commissioners.
As aforementioned, they show no care or concern. If they did, they would have shown up or at least left a word that they could not attend.
But they didn't.
Maybe your email can make a difference.
