(LIVERMORE, Calif.) --The Livermore Valley Joint Unified District has been operating under a new superintendent following Anthony Limoges' promotion to the new role for the 2026-27 school year.

On June 16, 2026, the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) Board of Education unanimously voted for the new superintendent to take hold of the position. Limoges' extensive experience spans more than 30 years within the education industry, where he served as the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for the last eight years for the Rocklin Unified School District, according to a District press release.
"I am honored and humbled by the Board's confidence in selecting me to serve as the next superintendent of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. I am excited to join a district that values both excellence and connection,” Limoges said in the press release.
The celebration was short-lived, however, when Tara Boyce, a LVJUSD parent who is also running for a seat in the upcoming November election, voiced her concerns.
“So I’ve spoken at previous board meetings about transparency, community involvement, internal group involvement in this process, so I will not relitigate that,” Boyce said.

One of the issues raised was the 12.5% salary increase that’s projected to take place over a two-year time period for the superintendent, which surpasses other comparable salaries for the same position in neighboring cities.
“The 12.5% salary growth over two years, that far outpaces compensation increases for our other groups, and it far outpaces the step increases for our neighboring districts for the same level position,” Boyce added.
According to Limoges' employment agreement, his salary was to be $329,000 for the 2026/27 school year for a term of employment lasting three years, from 2026 to 2029. Boyce pointed out that the board should consider the message this sends to the community and other board members.
Another concern Boyce raised was the apparent vagueness of the language regarding a six-month evaluation that Superintendent Limoges would undergo. She noted how 60% of the board wouldn’t even be in attendance for said evaluation.
“What is the plan of the board to create a structure of accountability from day one and ensure that the superintendent is on board with being held accountable, which our last was not?” she asked the council. In response to the issues, board member Deena Kaplanis alleged that Limoges' salary was at “the lower end” when compared to other districts.

“We as a board have clear, measurable performance goals in place for his first year evaluation,” Kaplanis said.
Regardless, praise of the new superintendent continued with Board member Christaan VaandenHeuvel stating that during the selection process, it was Limoges who perfectly fit what the board was looking for in the candidates they reviewed.
“There were so many parts of him as a person and his experience, natural talents or gifts that fit so well with what we are asking for in a superintendent that it was such a sigh of relief,” VanndenHeuevel stated.
As the 2026-27 school year has begun, Anthony Limoges has already begun his time as the district's new superintendent.
“I am honored and humbled by the Board's confidence in selecting me to serve as the next superintendent of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. I am excited to join a district that values both excellence and connection,” Limoges stated.
On the official Livermore Unified District website, Limoges has stated his intentions are to implement a 90-day Plan to help foster and build trust among the district and community.
