(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) – Minnesota Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Lisa Demuth is now among several GOP candidates openly disagreeing with President Donald Trump on continuing the War in Iran.
The move comes just two months before the Gubernatorial Elections. Previously, Demuth has declined to acknowledge questions about comments and decisions Trump has made during his Presidency.
Once, during an interview with MPR Host Clay Masters, she was asked if there were things the President did that she disagreed with, and said she didn’t have anything. Demuth also stated that everyone can view things differently.
During the run for Gubernatorial Primaries, she didn’t criticize Trump, but when commenting on her lack of support for the War in Iran, she made sure to mention his lack of endorsement.
“President Trump and I are different people. I was not his pick to endorse for governor here in the state of Minnesota.” Demuth stated, “But I think as we’ve watched things go forward, it is time to put an end to that war.”

She went on to discuss the war's impact on Minnesota’s agricultural community and citizens in general, specifically pointing out the rising costs of gas, diesel, fertilizer, and groceries. Demuth is just one in a growing list of Republicans distancing themselves from the Trump Administration on critical issues.
Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Tiffany suggested it was time to wrap up the Iran conflict and focus on what’s happening in America. GOP Senate Candidates Mike Rogers (Mich.) and Ashley Hinson (Iowa) have used ending the War in Iran as a focal point of their campaigns.

A campaign ad by Florida Representative Maria Elvira Salazar shows her openly criticizing the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics. Colorado Representative Jeff Hurd is using his disagreements with Trump as a key speaking point on his campaign trail.
Despite the recent backlash, the Senate narrowly rejected the War Powers Resolution on September 24 with a 49-50 vote. The resolution would have been instrumental in removing U.S. forces in Iran.
