(SAN RAMON) --- There is something to be said about the irony of Mayor Mark Armstrong's campaign.
Public Safety, quality of life, fiscal accountability, and preserving open space are the four priorities Armstrong lists on his campaign page. He has not kept one of those promises since 2024, when he was elected to the position and OpGov.News can prove it.
While this reporter no longer covers San Ramon, I was instrumental in reporting on Armstrong's leadership over the last year, and it has not been good.
That is why I am back.
Though I can't vote for Armstrong, I can warn others not to, pointing out evidence that he doesn't stand by what he says, beginning with the open space I highlight in this November 2025 report.
"Tomorrow night, Mayor Mark Armstrong and the San Ramon City Council will once again ignore Jim Blickenstaff, a former councilmember, and other citizens who oppose the rise in fees that accompany the removal of Measure G, a law that protects open space."
As for the next two points, fiscal responsibility and quality of life, Chirag Kathrani and I pointed out he also fails, as reported in "San Ramon's Deeply Disturbing State of Democracy, Year in Review, which gained almost 5,500 reads.

Lastly, I cannot express how much this report speaks to Armstrong's character.
Former Mayor Greg Carr himself showed his disdain for the council's decisions under Armstrong in November, making it very clear that Armstrong does not know how to lead San Ramon in the right direction.
Along with the noted reports, I also ask the following questions and point out some further facts:
Why has the Vice President of Sunset edited official city documents?
Armstrong's refusal to respect the election results when appointing a council member.
Remote participation is still not available for public meetings, despite public requests.
I don't know how much more I can point out to prove that Armstrong has failed to lead San Ramon in the right direction. I leave the rest up to you to research if you want another four years of being ignored in the most important decisions that directly affect your lives.
With all that, if you see your neighbor putting up a yard sign, please educate them.
If you don't act now, it could be too late.
