(TALLAHASSEE, Flor.) -- Tallahassee and the State of Florida have declared a State of Emergency ahead of Hurricane Isaias, which will make landfall on the Florida Panhandle Friday night.
Forecasts warn Florida and Alabama residents that Isaias may make landfall as early as 9 p.m. today.
Time to prepare for the storm is waning, with several stores closing and running out of bottled water. If you do not have water reserves, it is advised to get back to your home as soon as possible. If you are unable to get water, you can get a water filter and try to fill up large pitchers if possible.
Although Tallahassee is not currently inside the Cone of Uncertainty (areas expected to be in the direct path of the storm), the city sits just outside of the storm path, to the east.

Hurricane Helene was a Category 4 hurricane in 2024, which similarly missed Tallahassee and produced several tornadoes.
Specific to Tallahassee, three tornadoes spawned in May 2024, unrelated to a hurricane. The event was called a ‘derecho’, with conditions similar to a Category 2 Hurricane.
