(SAN RAMON, CA.) - Two men were taken into custody in Oakland following an investigation into an armed robbery reported Tuesday evening at a San Ramon apartment complex, according to the San Ramon Police Department.
The robbery was reported at approximately 6:49 p.m. on August 18 at the Cobblestone Apartments in the 3900 block of Crow Canyon Road.
Police said the victim was confronted by two men who were carrying handguns. The victim was assaulted during the encounter, and the suspects allegedly took valuables before leaving in a silver sedan. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Investigators later identified the vehicle as a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with the California license plate 7HCL742 through the department's FLOCK camera system. Information about the vehicle was circulated to other law enforcement agencies.
Oakland police eventually located the Hyundai, and a pursuit followed. The chase came to an end after the vehicle crashed in Oakland, according to San Ramon police. The two occupants then left the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before officers detained them.
Police identified the suspects as Isiah Burns, 22, of San Francisco, and Joseph Broussard, 27, of Oakland. A loaded firearm was recovered from the Hyundai during the investigation.
Both men were booked into Santa Rita Jail by the Oakland Police Department in connection with separate crimes within Oakland's jurisdiction.
San Ramon detectives later traveled to Oakland to collect and process evidence from the vehicle. Investigators also obtained Ramey warrants for Burns and Broussard related to the robbery in San Ramon. Ramey warrants are a type of arrest warrant issued by a judge before prosecutors have filed formal criminal charges.
Additionally, the San Ramon Police Department said it was assisted by the Oakland Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
