(SAN RAMON) --- Campaign funds and spending reveal a candidate's character.
It all comes down to numbers. I have spent a significant amount of time researching my challenger, Rebecca Bauer-Kaun's, financials, only to find questionable and excessive spending.
I prepared a chart comparing her and me.
As the election gets closer and more campaign funds are raised, citizens need to be aware of their current district representative's extravagant spending, including travel stipends and unexplained transfers.
I have also addressed Bauer-Kaun's Assembly Floor attendance and her lack of action on the Environmental Committee. I encourage the public to take heed and do their own research before placing Bauer-Kaun in office, beginning with the research I have provided here.
It is obvious from the graph below that the first difference is in our campaign funding. While I draw from a grassroots community-funded campaign, Bauer-Kaun has PAC-heavy contributions, with the majority coming from party transfers rather than individual constituents.

Some comparisons reveal questions, including the unexplained transfers.
One questionable transfer is $727,780 that Bauer-Kaun gave to herself and categorized as "unknown." Or the spousal reimbursements for her husband, Darren, totaling more than $50,000, based on airline payments billed twice.

I offer full transparency on expenditures, with every dollar tied to my stated campaign purpose and not one penny for spousal reimbursement.
What is most disturbing of all the comparisons is the lack of Bauer-Kaun's activity on the Assembly Floor, especially given that she collects hundreds of thousands in campaign funds.
This evidence is seen in more than 50 unresponded constituent concerns sent to Bauer-Kaun from San Ramon residents. My open-door policy and constant presence at district town hall meetings prove that I have nowhere to be but where the people want me.
I end as I began, encouraging District 16 constituents not only to compare the noted differences but also to do their own research on who is really best for our region.
