Empowering communities through transparent governance
(SAN FRANCISCO, CA.) – As a government employee, a press officer’s duty is to respond and communicate with the media, including reporters, so long as doing so does not interfere with an important investigation.
Over a week ago, OpGov.ai contacted the SFPD press officer with questions concerning porch piracy, local thievery, and vandalism. This is very important because it directly pertains to public safety and the private property of residents.
There was no response.

The SFPD was also contacted about new laws in California which would have a direct effect on the residents of San Francisco. Some of these new laws address issues of gun violence and sexual assault.

No response.
At no point would any of these questions pose any harm, but rather provide information to the community that could potentially increase their safety, or simply allow them to remain informed. It is the goal of OpGov.ai to spread accurate information and resources to the local community so that they can stay safe and aware.
The press officer, a representative for the SFPD, has not yet responded to OpGov.ai.
The SFPD police officers are busy fulfilling their duties as investigators and protectors of the community. The press officer, a communicator for media correspondents, would hopefully respond at the earliest convenience.
The SFPD is not the only organization that has not responded to emails from OpGov.ai reporters.
During the heavy rainfall, there was a black-out in San Francisco on December 20, 2025, which affected over four different neighborhoods and nearly half of the city. The weather did not cause the black-out, but further inconvenienced residents, especially since traffic lights did not work and the entire outdoors were slippery.
Over a week ago, OpGov.ai reached out to San Francisco Planning about our recently-reported harsh weather.

So far, there has been no response.
It is the public duty of press officers to respond to media correspondents who contact them. OpGov.ai is a legitimate news source that wishes to receive responses to questions for the sake of releasing new, informative articles in a timely manner.
Similar issues have been reported across various states in an alarming pattern of unreturned press requests with various government officials on numerous levels.
