(DUBLIN, Calif.) — The Senior Info Fair is coming to the Dublin Senior Center on October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This free event brings seniors, their families and caregivers together as a community.
Established to share information for and about seniors, visitors can get health advice or a flu shot, learn about housing resources, and get to know the senior center itself. Elena Arellano-Munoz, Program Specialist for Dublin’s Parks and Community Services, said the main purpose of the Senior Info Fair is to “showcase the main activities we have available for seniors, and to highlight how the businesses and groups that partner with us can help them.” At the fair, many different establishments explain what they do and how they will support the senior community.
Arellano-Munoz also mentioned that “many seniors in our community often require information regarding transportation, finances, disability, and housing,” so the fair is a great opportunity to address those needs. These are resources that seniors often have a hard time finding elsewhere. The fair is also a chance to connect with many different volunteer groups.
Beyond getting information, the fair also lets attendees visit and see many of the clubs and activities the senior center offers. These include ping pong, bingo, karaoke, tai chi, art, and more.

But the fair isn't just about information for the senior community. The Dublin Senior Center “want[s] the seniors of the Tri-Valley to know that they have a community here.” Arellano-Munoz stated that the center has “a lot of people who lived in different countries for all their lives, and only moved to Dublin for their kids, so they struggle to find a community. We want them to know that they have a community here, not just the senior center, but the organizations around here as well.”
While Arellano-Munoz has never organized a fair, she has high hopes for the event's future. Over the next few years, she hopes the center can offer complexes and affordable housing for seniors, one of the biggest problems seniors face today.

Arellano-Munoz said she believed the fair has long meant “a lot to the seniors, as this is the one event a year so that many people across the Tri-Valley area can reach them specifically.”
The fair will also include a raffle provided by the agencies sponsoring the Senior Info Fair. Prizes include gift cards, gift baskets, and more for anyone who attends. If you are a senior or the caretaker of a senior, the Senior Info Fair is a great place to find the community you (or a senior in your care) need.
