(UNITED STATES) – US Senator Lindsey Graham, age 71, died suddenly on Jul. 11. Preliminary medical findings list the cause of death as aortic dissection. He is survived by his sister, Darline Graham Nordone.
According to records, a call was placed at 8:30 p.m. the night of the incident; in it, the caller stated someone at Sen. Graham’s residence was having chest pain. Less than 30 minutes later, emergency services were administering CPR. There was no knowledge of previous health-issues that would have caused the incident, so his death came as a shock to everyone who knew him.

Graham, advisor and supporter of Pres. Donald Trump, has served as S.C. Senator since 2002. He was running for re-election at the time of his death, and was known for his tough foreign policy stance. Before becoming Senator of S.C., Graham earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina, serving as an Air Force lawyer directly after. He later joined the S.C. Air National Guard, and then went on to become a member of the House of Representatives during the Clinton Administration (1994).
