(SAN RAMON, CA.) - The San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education approved an easement for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) during its August 18 meeting, clearing a step needed to support the district’s planned transition to electric school buses.
The board held a public hearing on the proposed dedication of the easement before considering Resolution No. 40/2627, which would formally authorize the district to convey the easement to PG&E. No public comments were made during the hearing.
According to Assistant Superintendent Vince Morales, the district is preparing to receive ten electric buses in November. As part of that preparation, PG&E requested access through the district’s service center parking lot to install the infrastructure needed for the buses.

The requested easement includes a ten-foot-wide area across the service center parking lot where conduit lines will be installed underground. The district also approved a 20-by-33-foot easement to accommodate additional equipment associated with transformers.
Morales explained that the board had already taken an initial step at its previous meeting by declaring its intent to convey the easement to PG&E. Following the required public hearing, the August 18 meeting included the formal vote to authorize the transfer.
The board unanimously approved Resolution No. 40/2627, with all five members voting in favor and no opposition.
The easement is part of the infrastructure preparations underway ahead of the district’s planned arrival of the 10 electric buses in November. The meeting discussion did not provide additional details about the buses’ routes, costs or expected charging capacity.
