(SAN RAMON, CA.) – San Ramon Regional Medical Center has been awarded a 4-Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The designation highlights the hospital’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care for the Tri-Valley community.
The CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating simplifies complex hospital data into an easy 1 through 5 star score, helping patients compare local care options. CMS evaluates hospitals across 40 different safety and quality metrics, including infection rates, emergency response times, and patient reviews.
Hospital leadership attributes the national recognition directly to the dedication of doctors, nurses, and staff across all departments.
“Achieving a 4-Star CMS rating is a testament to our team’s focus on quality, patient safety, clinical excellence, and delivering the best possible experience for our patients and their families,” said Rob J. Anderson, who assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at San Ramon Regional Medical Center on March 31.
“We are proud of our team members and medical staff whose commitment to excellence made this recognition possible,” Anderson said.

The four-star rating marks yet another achievement for the hospital in recent years. San Ramon Regional Medical Center was previously recognized as a High Performing Hospital for 2023–2024 by the U.S. News & World Report for hip replacement and pneumonia, and earned a bronze award for Best Birth Center in the East Bay from Bay Area Parent Magazine in 2025.
The recognition is the latest milestone for a hospital that has served the region for over three decades. As noted on the hospital’s official website: “San Ramon Regional Medical Center opened its doors on February 14, 1990. Since then, we have expanded our services, upgraded our technology and increased our medical staff in an effort to provide patients with quality hospital experience.”
Moving forward, hospital leaders plan to build on that foundation to keep pace with the Tri-Valley’s growing population.
