(SACRAMENTO, CA) —The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office (SSO) has arrested a suspect linked to three February 2026 robberies committed by an individual who, for reasons still unclear, consistently wore a single glove while hopping counters and grabbing cash. Whether this was an homage to pop culture, a laundry mishap, or simply a questionable stylistic choice remains unresolved.
On February 4, deputies responded to the Great Gas Food Mart at Watt Avenue and Marconi Avenue after a robbery in which the suspect pepper‑sprayed an employee and fled with money. Detectives soon connected the incident to two earlier robberies at fast‑food restaurants along Watt Avenue: a February 2 robbery at Popeyes and a February 23 robbery at Subway. In those cases, the suspect reportedly jumped sales counters, pushed employees, and took cash from registers.
Through their investigation, robbery detectives identified the alleged suspect as 20‑year‑old Jamon Dupree of Pittsburg, California, and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On March 17, detectives located Dupree at a Chevron station on Watt Avenue — directly across from the scene of the first robbery — and arrested him. Whether this return to the neighborhood was intentional or merely an unfortunate choice of pit stop is unknown.

Several residents thanked the Sheriff’s Office for the update, while others emphasized broader issues involving youth and community support. As is tradition on Sacramento community threads, opinions spanned from hopeful to exasperated — sometimes in the same sentence.

On Instagram, reactions added a mix of practical advice, encouragement, and surprisingly passionate reviews of the background music used in SSO’s crime‑update videos.
Several commenters stressed that employees should never risk their lives defending cash registers, expressing relief that no one was seriously hurt.
Others lamented the suspect’s choices, urging young people to consider the long‑term consequences of impulsive crimes — one commenter described it as “20 minutes equals 20 years.”
A number of users offered praise for the Sheriff’s Office, thanking detectives for their work and showing appreciation for seeing “the full story” unfold.
And in true Sacramento fashion, multiple commenters focused on the real issue at hand: the soundtrack. “Top‑notch music selection,” “props for the Smooth Criminal vibe,” and “the one glove matches the MJ energy” were among the recurring themes.
Several users expressed hope that prosecutors and judges follow through, while others encouraged continued community support for both local workers and local youth.
Dupree is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Submit Sacramento County tips and story ideas to Sarah Denos at sarahkdenos@gmail.com.
