(SACRAMENTO, CA.) — A Sacramento man arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman earlier this week was previously the subject of a multi-county firearms investigation and had pending criminal matters in Yolo County, according to law enforcement and court records.
Shortly before midnight on June 11, Sacramento Police Department officers responded to reports of a possible deceased female in the 2300 block of Rene Avenue. Officers located an adult woman suffering from at least one stab wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sacramento police said on their social media post homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to process the scene, collect evidence, and interview witnesses. Following what police described as extensive investigative efforts, detectives arrested 25-year-old Rudy Hader of Sacramento on homicide-related charges.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

Prior to his arrest in the homicide investigation, Hader was the subject of a March 2026 firearms investigation conducted by the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies. According to the sheriff’s office April 3rd Facebook Post, investigators served search warrants in Woodland and Sacramento County after investigating allegations that Hader, a convicted felon, was in possession of firearms. The sheriff’s office reported that detectives recovered a Glock 34 semi-automatic pistol and ammunition during the operation and booked Hader into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of firearm-related offenses.
According to court records, Hader was facing three felony firearm-related charges in Yolo County, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while prohibited by a restraining or protective order, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Court records show prosecutors sought to have Hader remain in custody following his March 2026 arrest, but the request was denied and he was allowed to remain free on a $10,000 bail bond while the case proceeded. Conditions of release prohibited him from possessing firearms or body armor, and GPS monitoring could be imposed at the discretion of probation officials.
The case remained active at the time of his arrest in the Sacramento homicide investigation. Records indicate Hader had pleaded not guilty and was scheduled to return to court on July 23 for proceedings related to a mental health diversion motion and trial-setting conference.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing.

City Council Cuts Police Budget Amid Broader Cost‑Saving Measures
The incident comes shortly after the Sacramento City Council approved its new budget, which includes significant reductions to the police department as part of a wider effort to close a multimillion‑dollar deficit. The plan eliminates more than 100 vacant and filled city positions overall, including dozens within the police department, and reallocates some roles to other divisions. While no active sworn officers were laid off, the staffing cuts mark the largest reduction to police resources in more than a decade and are expected to increase reliance on overtime to maintain service levels.
The suspect in this story is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
