The 40th annual Run San Ramon is an Independence Day classic celebrating four decades of fitness. Hosted at the San Ramon Community Center located at 12501 Alcosta Blvd, the event features a paved, looped course for the 5K and 10K races, alongside a fast out-and-back “Fastest Mile” race. The event is fully chip-timed and an awards ceremony will take place immediately following the conclusion of all three races.
To celebrate their achievements, all runners will be treated to free refreshments, ice cream, and fresh fruit. The first 650 participants are guaranteed a short-sleeve commemorative shirt, a race bib, and a participation medal, though sizes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Per the City of San Ramon website, “Registration options include online, mail-in, or in person at packet pick up on July 3rd from 1:00PM-5:00PM at Sports Basement San Ramon. Registration online will remain open through July 3rd. Registration will be available on Race Day pending availability.”
As an extra perk, Sports Basement is offering an exclusive runner discount during this time: just show your race bib at checkout to receive up to 20% off everything in the store. For those who cannot make it on Friday, race gear will be available for pickup on the morning of the race.

Starting at 5:00 pm and running until 8:00 pm, the Central Park Amphitheater is hosting a spectacular evening of music, dancing, and outdoor fun. Grab your friends, family, and a picnic blanket to enjoy patriotic music from the Olympia Fields Brass to honor America’s 250th birthday.
Directly following, The Cheeseballs will take the stage, bringing a high-energy performance packed with “the best of funk & soul with hits from the 80's, 90's and today.”
There is no need to pack a heavy cooler, as several local food trucks will be on-site selling delicious bites, beer, and wine.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone, the city has outlined a few ground rules for the Amphitheater. “Shade structures, tents, and umbrellas will only be permitted at the top of the ridge/hill to ensure lines of sight remain open.”
Since park facilities will be busy, extra parking will be available nearby at the Iron Horse Middle School. Attendees are advised to check the event map ahead of time for designated ADA parking as well as specified Loading and Unloading zones.
The city also noted that there will be no fireworks display, making it a sensory-friendly, low-stress evening for pets and families looking for a purely musical celebration.
Whether you are running the 5K, dancing to funk hits, or just enjoying local food under the summer sun, San Ramon is the place to be this 4th of July.
Happy 250th, America!
