(PLEASANTON, Calif.)— A private youth volleyball coach who operated programs across the Tri-Valley was arrested last week outside Pleasanton Middle School on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to Dublin Police Services.
Police said Aditya "Ted" Babu was arrested on Wednesday in the school's parking lot as he was reportedly on his way to a summer volleyball coaching session. Investigators said the arrest followed an investigation initiated after Dublin Police Services received multiple cyber tips from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
According to police, detectives determined that one of Babu's online accounts allegedly contained confirmed images of child sexual abuse material, establishing probable cause for the arrest. Authorities said dozens of electronic devices have been seized and are awaiting forensic examination as the investigation continues.
Babu has since posted bail and is no longer in custody. As of the latest public update, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office had not filed formal charges, and authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active.

Dublin Police Services said it released information about the arrest because of Babu's longstanding involvement with youth volleyball programs serving middle school-aged participants in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon, Union City and Newark. Police said the public notification was intended to inform potentially affected communities while the investigation proceeds.
The City of Pleasanton confirmed that Babu worked as an independent contractor through its recreation programs and announced it is terminating that contract. City officials also stated that, at this time, Pleasanton Police have no information indicating that any crimes related to the investigation occurred within the City of Pleasanton. Officials added that no additional volleyball classes with the contractor were scheduled this year and that the city will continue cooperating with Dublin Police Services.
Police are asking anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact Dublin Police Services.
Authorities stressed that an arrest is not a finding of guilt. Any criminal charges will be determined by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office following review of the investigation.
