(MINNESOTA) – President Donald Trump announced his official endorsement of My Pillow CEO, Mike Lindell for Governor of Minnesota on July 15 on the social media platform Truth Social. Trump further went on to say he believes Lindell will “Make Minnesota great again” and praised the gubernatorial candidate as a great and hard-working patriot.
Lindell is only 17 percentage points behind DFL runner Senator Amy Klobuchar, who currently leads in the polls. In addition, none of the three top GOP candidates has a firm grasp on the nomination as the Primary draws near. Lindell’s top competitors, Kendall Qualls and Lisa Demuth, each have less than a five percentage-point lead on him. The Presidential endorsement could provide the tipping point he would need to take the lead, especially among undecided voters who support Trump.

This means that despite the GOP endorsing Qualls, it appears the outcome will be decided at the Aug. 11 Republican Primary. Some have tried to question Lindell’s ability to run in the race due to residency status. To run for Governor of Minnesota, candidates are required to have established residency for at least one year prior to the general election.
These claims, however, appear to be unfounded.
Lindell filed his gubernatorial paperwork to run in the election in December of 2025, but was already beginning to establish residency in the State in September according to an article by the Star Tribune. This means he will have satisfied the one-year requirement prior to the General Election Nov. 3.
