Empowering communities through transparent governance
(PORTLAND) If you or someone you know needs a free hot meal this Christmas, Portland has plenty of opportunities.
Potluck in the Park kicks off a few days of giving, hosting its 31st annual Christmas dinner. The longstanding Portland tradition of sharing food, friendship, and cheer with anyone in need is decades long for a reason; it makes a holiday difference.

“In partnership with the Portland Art Museum, we’ll once again transform the Fred and Suzanne Fields Ballroom into a warm, festive dining hall filled with music, laughter, and the spirit of giving,” Potluck in the Park website reports.
This huge community event will be a great time for the whole family from noon to 3 p.m. at the Portland Art Museum in the Fred & Suzanne Fields Ballroom, 1119 SW Park Avenue,
“Each year, more than 1,000 guests enjoy a free traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, accompanied by live jazz from some of Portland’s finest musicians," according to the event website. "Santa Claus will be on hand for photos and smiles throughout the afternoon.”

For those looking to provide Christmas for another and help someone feel loved and remembered, the Portland Rescue Mission is accepting donations for Project Christmas Care, along with general donations.

“For many of the men and women in our New Life Ministries and Connect Ministry, the holidays remind them of dark and painful times," the group reports. "Their pasts are often filled with memories of homelessness, isolation, agony and discomfort."
The group adds that with locals' help, "this Christmas season offers new hope, and the chance to make new memories."
