(PENSACOLA, Flor.) -- Pensacola’s Police Department Headquarters will have an interior “makeover” after City Council approved a 6-0 vote for the $435,270 renovation. This will be the first major project on Police HQ since January 2018 when the building was expanded by 9,200 feet and 33,000 square feet were renovated. Although the vote was unanimous, there was still discord among an attendee at the meeting.
Maverick Marley criticized the funding allocation. “I find it ridiculous that we have given. And I believe item number ten, $1,200 to Ronald McDonald's. Like, children's house, like, you know, like children with cancer, in fact, like, I don't even think we broke break like 30,000.”
Marley went on to say “I think it's ridiculous that we cannot spend like upwards of $30,000 on kids with cancer or our own community, anything. But yet we need to spend half a million on repainting the police department. It's ridiculous to me.”
Marley then called out Charles Bear, District 2 City Council member, “You have been sitting here talking about, like, saving money this entire time over, like six, like six cent taxes. Like you don't even have control over. You better vote against this.”
