I have been a reporter for two decades, beginning with Gannett in 2005. In all the years and news media outlets I have worked with, I don't believe I have ever been more pumped to be part of OpGov.News launch of Gulf Coast Weekly, the second newspaper founded by Chirag Kathrani, who recently launched Tri-Valley Weekly.
No words can express my gratitude to Kathrani. His love of democracy, personal investment, and belief in change have turned a small Silicon Valley media outlet into a nationwide force online and in print.
I am honored to be named Editor-in-Chief and to work alongside an amazing team that will continue the hyperlocal coverage of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Pensacola became my home four years ago when I moved from my home state, New Jersey. While I love the region for so many reasons, the most important is being a correspondent for a newspaper that is directly involved in local politics and change.
What more could a journalist ask for?

Kathrani’s investment in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties shows his dedication to democracy everywhere, not just Silicon Valley. Gulf Coast Weekly is honored to be the sister paper to the Tri-Valley Weekly and looks forward to OpGov.News is founding more newspapers nationwide.
