Empowering communities through transparent governance
(OpGov.ai) - When someone doesn't get back to you after you ask a question, you ask yourself why.
When an elected official does not get back to a press request, then you really ask why.
Rather than tell you who didn't respond to OpGov.ai in the last few months of the media startup, it is easier to thank those who did.
But before saying thanks, OpGov.ai would like to note the disheartening pattern our AI platform and real-time reporters find far outside Contra Costa County. Our national reporters in Charlotte, N.C, Atlanta, Ga., Gilbert, AZ, and various cities in California, including West Sacramento, Sacramento, and San Francisco, also had media requests rejected.
This report covers California responses.
First, the outlet thanks Dublin Councilman John Morada, as reported here.
Morada was the only elected Dublin official to respond to the outlet's request on E-bike safety, specifically regarding a teenager who raised the issue at a council meeting after a severe injury he suffered on an E-bike.
You read it right, the only one.
Or take Contra Costa County Elections Supervisor Dawn Krueger, who has responded to every response with timely respect regarding San Ramon and Measure G.
Ironically, while local media ignore the regional meetings and issues, Dan Borestin from the East Bay Times responded but never followed up on the matter.
After this report on Yuba City Mayor Dave Show, Interm City Manager Robert Bendor responded quickly, respecting the media's request for comment.
When it comes to Newark, Councilwoman Eve Little worked closely with the outlet to confirm all reported facts from this meeting were correct.
Lastly, thanks to the San Ramon City Clerk's office, specifically Joan Snashall and her team, for the timely response to the San Ramon FOIA ongoing series.
OpGov.ai notes that the following officials account for only 5% of all responses, based on our publisher Chirag Kathrani's account of all officials reached.
