(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) – The Minneapolis City Council met for its regular meeting on August 27, with key resolutions marking the gathering, including The Dozens event in Minneapolis Northside’s Green Zone and Welcoming Week.
Co-chair of the Minneapolis Northside Green Zone Leslie Jackson thanked the city for supporting green zones and The Dozens event on August 29. She then emphasized the need for community collaboration between North and South Minneapolis to revitalize businesses in North Minneapolis.
The event will place special emphasis on food-focused future and community revitalization. An unidentified public speaker thanked the City for supporting North Minneapolis infrastructure, specifically NEON’s collective kitchen, expressing the need for the community to support local chefs and their importance to the area’s future.
A representative from CPC 2.0 was both excited and grateful for the support of The Dozens event. The individual stressed CPC’s recent move and the success of its youth programs, which highlight the importance of empowering young people by providing positive examples of community building.

Director of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Michelle Rivero expressed gratitude for the Welcoming Week resolution, announcing the theme for September 10-19 as moving from strangers to friends.
Rivero noted that the event was “fostering belonging for all residents, and recognizing Minneapolis as home regardless of background.” She also encouraged cultural exchange and reflection on US citizenship.
One unidentified immigrant resident spoke up, thanking the community for its support of new immigrants. The resident continued, praising the mental health services the State provides to trauma survivors, expressing their “increased love” for Minnesota.
