A proposed road charge is all the roar right now as it should be.
The Golden State is already known for the high cost of driving, one of the very tools the bill sponsors, one of whom is my opponent, are using to sell the idea. The cost of driving is just one of many reasons not to consider California home. The Public Policy Institute of California reports housing costs as the main driver for exodus, but it is an exodus nonetheless.
Now we are going to charge for driving?
What happens if you have gas in your car, but your dying mother lives 200 miles away, and you can't afford to say goodbye because of how far it is.
Just say that aloud and see how horrible that sounds; hence, that is why it is socio-economically unfair. Even the L.A. Times reports that "regular" citizens, not billionaires, are renting trucks to leave California.
Just Google "California exodus" and get the information below.

As seen above, SFG reports California is now infamous for the "most out-migration" state in the U.S., with the Desert Sun's ditto message citing U-Haul stats as proof.
Even Facebook brings up the matter when search as seen here and below in Leaving California. A Feb. 9 post points out just how lucrative it is to leave here for the cost of gas alone, noneless a road charge.

Carwin L. Thompson Facebook Post Feb. 9, citing high California gas prices.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the proposed charge and on how we can oppose it together. In the meantime, I am researching just how I can assure this does not take place if elected as an assemblyman.
