Vancouver Councilwoman Kim D. Harless Facebook Page Post Oct. 6, 2025.
The ethics complaint against Vancouver Councilwoman Kim D. Harless is already affecting the incumbent's chances of being re-elected in less than a month.
I back that up with the fact the incumbent's Facebook of 730K followers only shows one person interested in the event she posted three days ago.
OpGov.ai reported on the complaint yesterday solely on the government website press release.
After finding out the news from the government website, I began to research, and the first thing that came up was this FM News 101 KXL report. The local news outlet reports that at the regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, the councilwoman’s peers voted 5-0 to pass the charge along.
What did she do wrong?
According to the local media outlet, Harless is accused of “failing to disclose a relationship with John Park, the director of a nonprofit that received city lodging-tax grants for Vancouver’s annual Pokémon GoFest event.”
Harless had to recuse herself from the vote, but she wasn’t quiet when asked about the charge, which she called “incredibly invasive,” according to the local media outlet.
Whatever it is, it removed her from the post on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee till the complaint is reviewed, which could take up to 60 days.
Speaking of local media, the newspaper the Colombian showed support of the candidate days after the complaint vote on Monday, saying the incumbent "has the experience, temperament, and commitment to represent the people of Vancouver well."
The question is, can she do it with an ethics complaint looming over her?
OpGov.ai is reaching out to Councilwoman Harless, offering the opportunity to tell her side of the story.
