We started our news publication because many important local issues went unreported, and reaching journalists was a daunting task.
The press is often called the fourth pillar of democracy. We believe it should serve the people and be guided by their needs, rather than by advertisers, government, or the preferences of a few individuals.
Remaining unbiased is easier said than done, especially as we expand from one community to another.
Our approach is to give subscribers a collective editor-in-chief role, with the final say on what we cover, rather than leaving that decision to one person on our team. That is why our members have a seat in our newsroom and a voice in shaping our coverage.
Each area has a regular meeting at a scheduled time. Tri-Valley Voice’s editorial meeting takes place every Monday at 5:00 PM(PST) via Zoom. Global happens on Wednesday 5:00 PM(PST) via zoom.
Most of our reporting comes from city council meetings and community members who share their concerns with us.
By subscribing for $10 a month, you become part of a community working for change at the local level. Our coverage focuses on local matters. We cover national issues only when they meaningfully affect the communities we serve.
