LIVERMORE—Let there be light.
At last night’s Livermore Council meeting, the mayor and council approved a $617,951 Street Lighting Project to BuildCorp. Inc.
The meeting agenda included detailed information on the project, including the resolution totaling over $600K.
According to the resolution, “the objective of this Street Lighting Project is to improve the street lighting in Livermore by installing new streetlights and upgrading incandescent and old LED lights.”
Upgrades are noted for East Avenue between South Livermore Avenue and South Vasco Road, with residents requesting additional locations.
For now, there are approximately 77 new Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lights on existing poles and 36 new solar-powered lights.
“For new streetlights, rather than using the City’s standard streetlight poles with wired streetlights, this project proposes to deploy solar powered streetlights, specifically the Fonroche Lighting America brand of solar light assembly on top of 25-foot-tall poles with a 6’ mast arm,” the resolution reads.
Carnegie Park will also see upgrades. The park, located on Third Street, will receive 35 new bollard lights along its walking paths.
