(KIDSTRONG LIVERMORE, INC.) – Finding activities that help develop your child's mind, body, and character can be a difficult feat.
Chess club is great for a child’s mind, local parks for their coordination, and team sports for their character. But what about parents looking for a program that nurtures all three?
KidStrong Livermore owner Maichel Thunga says it's, “a milestone accelerator program for kids,” is the perfect place to look.

As shown in the video above, KidStrong Livermore is a “science-based kids' training program specifically designed to build three pillars: strong body, strong mind, and strong character.”
In an interview with OpGov.news reporter Molly Scheid, Thunga illustrates how KidStrong Livermore helps build “strong, confident, and high-character” kids.

“In a single 45-minute session, a child might work on their grip strength (body), solve a spatial puzzle (mind), and practice public speaking through our opening affirmations (character),” KidStrong Livermore states.

Thunga explains how, “When I say character, it starts from the time they walk into the class. So from the way they give a confident high-five to the coach, saying their name loudly, or introducing themselves to the other classmates.”
Thunga iterates that KidStrong Livermore’s philosophy of developing both physical strength and mental confidence is crucial in today's “sedentary” and “digital” environment
“A child who knows they can conquer a difficult physical obstacle is a child who believes they can conquer a difficult math problem and a social conflict,” KidStrong Livermore states, which is becoming increasingly important in “an era of social media and high academic pressures.”

On KidStrong Livermore’s website, they say that “96% of parents see an increase in their child’s self-confidence.”
This data is obtained through KidStrong Livermore’s National Member Impact Survey that parents receive, Thunga explains.
This increased confidence leads to success stories from parents, such as , “My child used to hide behind my legs at the grocery store, and today they walked up to their new teacher, looked them in the eye, and introduced themselves,” KidStrong Livermore says.
Since fostering confidence is a strong primary goal at KidStrong Livermore, Thunga says that when they hire coaches at the Livermore facility, they “don’t just hire athletes; we hire mentors.”
Specifically, when hiring KidStrong Livermore coaches, Thunga looks for the three Es: “energy, empathy, and enthusiasm.”
He shares how for the kids, the coaches are their “superheroes” and embody a variety of different roles: “coach is going to be their teacher, coach is going to be their mentor, coach is going to be their role model.”
The KidStrong Livermore General Manager, Julius, reiterates this point, explaining how his favorite part about working at KidStrong Livermore is “Watching them grow physically, but also their cognitive and confidence.”

Additionally, each of their coaches goes through a certification process through KidStrong University.
During my visit, the Livermore coaches shared why they love being a KidStrong Livermore coach in the video below.

Lead Livermore Coach Kalani says she became a KidStrong Livermore coach because, “I liked how much it intertwined with my values of building confidence and getting kids just ready for anything.”
Her favorite part of the job is “Seeing their smiles when you see how confident they grow in their progression each class.”
Coach Jake echoes that sentiment, sharing how, “a kid's first day might not be the same as a month at KidStrong Livemore, and it's just amazing to watch them grow as a student.”
He became a coach because he had an influential counselor at summer camp, and that experience inspired him to “give back to his community” and help “kids of a similar age.”
While the coaches do a wonderful job encouraging their little athletes, parent interaction also plays an important role, Maichel says.
“We also involve parents in the class, sometimes asking them, ‘Okay, your kid is going to do a push-up challenge, so can you please encourage them?’”

In May, a new KidStrong Livermore facility will be opening in Fremont, and Maichel says they will be offering “founding member prices, which are currently lower than the retail prices,” and encourages those interested to take advantage of the discounted rates.
KidStrong Livermore also has other perks, such as hosting birthday parties and “parents' night out.”
Maichel explains the "parents' night out" is a three-hour program, where pizza is provided, “happens once a month” and allows parents to “drop off the kids for 3 hours, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.”
Additionally, when there is no school, KidStrong Livermore holds a camp that runs from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
This summer, KidStrong Livermore has “10 full weeks of camp” and “starts from the first week of June to the first week of August.”
For parents seeking a space where “85% of kids say it’s more fun than other programs,” Kidstrong Livermore owner Maichel Thunga encourages you to book a free trial and stop by KidStrong Livermore to see for yourself!
