(ESCAMBIA COUNTY) – Kevin Adams won the nonpartisan race for Escambia County School Board District Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Escambia County Supervisor of Elections. Adams defeated Erin Toler 60% to 39%.
School Board members set policy for the district, approve the annual budget, hire and evaluate the superintendent, and vote on school attendance zones, according to the Florida School Boards Association. The Escambia County School District operates 70 schools with about 35,646 students and a budget of $857,164,000 for Fiscal Year 2025-26, according to the budget document.

Adams reported $8,314 in campaign contributions compared to $4,062 for Toler, according to the most recent financial reports filed with the Supervisor of Elections.
Adams has lived in Escambia County for more than 50 years, including the past 30 years in Beulah with his wife of 35 years, Vickey, according to his campaign bio.
Adams and his wife both attended elementary, middle, and high schools in the Escambia County School District. Their three children also attended Escambia County public schools, he said.
His grandmother and mother both retired as employees of the Escambia County School District, according to Adams.
Adams will continue his current term on the school board and will start another four-year term, which starts in November.
