Empowering communities through transparent governance
JERSEY CITY – Days before the city election, Ward A Council Candidate Pam Johnson talks about transparency.
"It is key to public trust because it sends a clear message that we want you to know what is happening in Jersey City and we want you to be included in conversations prior to any plans being developed or changes being made that will impact our neighborhoods," Johnson said to OpGov.ai days before the election.
"You cannot collaborate with people that you do not trust, and public trust will create an environment where government officials and residents join forces to make our communities stronger," the candidate said.
The candidate election website gets personal with Johnson noting, "Ward A is where my parents decided to lay their foundation planting their roots not only for themselves but their children."

Jersey City Ward A Candidate Pam Johnson has deep roots in the city, fighting for the public
The Anti-Violence Coalition founder's activism showcases her strong leadership skills, which she developed within the community itself.
"I was born and raised as a child of Ward A," Johnson writes. "It is where I became a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a humanitarian."
Why is Johnson the best woman for the job aside from family roots?
"I am running for office because Ward A needs real representation," Johnson said. "We need real steps forward, and we are tired of pleading for actual results."
Johnson said she is flooded with calls and emails from concerned residents throughout Ward A who have numerous issues, and they need to know that there is someone on the job. If elected, her top jobs include public safety, affordability, and recreation.
"I will keep the public involved by making them a part of the process," Johnson said. "When we do assessments and studies, we will share the data and gather feedback on the things that are important to residents so we can make decisions together."
Johnson said she would also utilize grassroots techniques, including in-person and virtual meetings, a monthly newsletter, and a "neighborhood outreach with boots on the ground outreach workers who will notify residents while walking through the community."
Using the best practices will produce better results, according to the candidate.
"What separates me from the other candidates is my proven record of accomplishment that has produced real outcomes, and my commitment to Ward A residents for many years speaks to my consistency," Johnson said. "We have navigated through community issues together to get things done; no other candidate has that."

The candidate said this is a critical election.
"Now more than ever, good local representation is needed," Johnson said. "What is happening at the federal level will impact us right here in Ward A and in Jersey City, and we need leaders whose commitment to support this community has been proven."
The candidate said her "ability to drive strong outcomes is evident, and my support for youth, families, and the entire Ward A is what will get us through these trying times."
"This is not the season to do blind voting," Johnson said. "This is the season to vote for representation that will fight for all of us, no matter what comes our way."
