(TALLAHASSEE, Flor.) – Election Day is rapidly approaching, and it is important to make plans to vote if you have not already.
Over 70,000 votes have already been cast in Tallahassee, which makes up 39% of eligible voters. Election Day is officially November 3, and the last day to make your vote count. To make sure your Election Day vote counts, ensure you are voting at your designated precinct. Different states have different policies, which have led to conflicting reports and misinformation about voting practices.
In Florida, early voters are able to cast ballots at any local precinct or by mail. On Election Day, your vote will only be properly counted at your designated precinct.

Even if you are permitted to vote at a precinct, your vote is not guaranteed to count unless it is at your designated precinct. Florida is one of numerous states that will entirely disregard provisional ballots at the wrong precinct. Georgia, among other states, will count national election votes and disregard local elections.
Tallahassee ballots will have candidates running for mayor, city commissioner, governor, senator, and more.
If you are unaware of your designated precinct, you can type your name and date of birth into the Leon County voting site to find out.
Poll Centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which could make voting a difficult commute in after-work traffic. Be sure to look at your schedule and consider voting before work if needed. If you do not have transportation, several options are available to you on November 3. Lyft is offering 50% off on all rides on Election Day, and Rides2Vote is offering free rides to the polls for anyone in need.
The mayoral race is now between current city commissioner Jeremy Matlow and former Florida Senator Lorrane Ausley. Both Seats 3 and 5 are on the ballot November 3, where Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox is opposite Dorothy Inman-Johnson. The race for Seat 3 features Tom Derzypolski and PJ Perez.
Regardless of the outcomes, Mayor John Dailey has retired, meaning the city will have at least one new city commissioner for the first time since 2020.
All five local judge elections were settled during the August primary, and three were unopposed.
The favorites for the governor's race are Democratic candidate David Jolly and Republican Byron Donalds. Scott Eckard Jewett is on the ballot as a libertarian, along with three candidates who have no party affiliation(Charles Burkett, Dean Abrams, Frank Russo).
The current race for Florida Senator has received national attention, most of it surrounding candidate Angie Nixon.
