Empowering communities through transparent governance
(DUBLIN, CA.) – The time has come for Dublin’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day celebration, with this year being the 42nd.
Beginning on Friday, Mar. 13 and ending on Sunday, Mar. 15, this celebration will feature a gala, a breakfast, a fun run and walk, a parade, and the main attraction, the St. Patrick's Day festival.
Recreation Coordinator Shelby Perry gives the city council a presentation on Mar. 3 that details the upcoming events.

As shown in the photo above, this festival will take place on Saturday, Mar. 14 and Sunday, Mar. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p. m.
Hosted at the Dublin Civic Center at 100 Civic Plaza, Perry lists a few of the products and services that will be offered by vendors at the event.
“The event will host more than 200 vendors overall, including arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, nonprofit organizations, activity vendors, and Dublin based commercial businesses.”
Perry specifies with excitement that exactly 15 local businesses will be featured, which is the highest number of Dublin based businesses to be featured at the festival thus far.
Additionally, Irish and Celtic live music, dance, jewelry, artwork, pottery, clothing and much more will be available for participants to view or purchase.
Some of the bands performing at this event include Fast and Vengefully, Tempus, CaliCeltic and Wild Thyme Larks.
Aside from the market and live stages, the festival will also include an area with carnival rides, an Irish tea party and an area for those 21 and older only.
These carnival rides will be located in a portion of the Dublin sports ground parking lot and its field. There will also be a petting zoo and pony riding in the same area.
The Irish tea party will be hosted in the civic center courtyard. Admission will cost participants $7 each. Hand painted wine barrels will decorate the area, and participants will receive a 42nd St. Patrick's Day Celebration tea mug, traditional Irish pastries and baked goods.

Special wristbands will also be required to access Clover’s Courtyard, which is reserved for those 21 and older. Here, there will be an official festival beer mug, cocktail tables, and lawn games.
Tickets and pre-registration are not required, however, to browse the numerous vendors and enjoy the live performances at the festival.
Happening before the festival, Perry gives a brief description of the Shamrock Gala.
“The weekend begins on Friday evening with the Shamrock Gala hosted by the Dublin Historical Society at the Shannon Community Center. This ticketed event kicks off the weekend with dinner, dancing and entertainment on Saturday morning.”

The following morning from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Fire Station 16 will be hosting the annual firefighters pancake breakfast. Admission costs $5 per person, with funds going towards the International Association of Firefighters Local 55.
On the same day beginning at 9:30 a.m., the St. Patrick’s Parade will march from Dublin Boulevard and Amador Plaza Road to near the Dublin Senior Center.
Perry reports that over 60 entries into the parade are expected. These include marching bands, bagpipers, floats, equestrian groups and more.
On Sunday morning, the Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk will take place starting at 8:30 a.m. on Dublin Boulevard across from city hall. At the end of the race, drinks, entertainment, and giveaways will be available. More information about the race can be viewed here.
Other events have also taken place recently in cities such as San Francisco, CA. and Union City CA., each celebrating different holidays.
