(CALIFORNIA) – Temperatures are soaring during this week’s heat wave felt across the Tri-Valley area. While resources for support during high temperatures are slim, we rounded up all of the cooling center locations nearby.
Respite from the heat can be found in the following locations, per Google:
Livermore
Robert Livermore Community Center: 4444 East Ave.
Livermore Public Library (Civic Center): 1188 S. Livermore Ave.
Livermore Public Library (Springtown Branch): 998 Bluebell Dr. [1, 2, 3]
Pleasanton
Dublin
San Ramon
San Ramon Community Center: 12501 Alcosta Blvd
Alcosta Senior & Community Center: 9300 Alcosta Blvd
Dougherty Station Community Arts Center: 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road
San Ramon Libraries: Both the San Ramon Library (100 Montgomery St) and Dougherty Station Library (17017 Bollinger Canyon Rd) are activated during severe heat
As the Tri-Valley area is surrounded by hills that prevent coastal winds from cooling the area, temperatures are expected to continue to rise into the 90s over the next week.
California Health Officials are urging residents to watch for warning signs of heart stroke, which include dizziness, blurred vision, dry, red skin, and confusion, among others.
Risk is higher in vulnerable populations, such as seniors and young children, unhoused individuals, and those without access to air conditioning. It’s crucial to check in on any friends and neighbors who meet these indicators.
Heat stroke is a very serious condition that can lead to severe, long-term damage or even death. If you or someone you know may be experiencing heat stroke, seek medical care immediately or dial 911.
