Empowering communities through transparent governance
(PENSACOLA) --- Beverly Elliott is proof that Pensacola officials have no heart at all.
I don't care about each side of the story on this. Bottom-line they are not letting a $44K lien be reduced for an elderly woman who is disabled. Again, I don't care what happened in the past. Today, it is not only unethical but also illegal to take advantage of the elderly.
Based on the Feb. 13 Agenda Memorandum
I note the instance in this report titled "Pensacola Rich Get Richer, Rip Off Poor," when Sherri Myers confronted the council.

(Memorandum Summary for Beverly Elliott)
Along with the noted proof, Myers researched the matter, noting "plenty of evidence of fraud, at least taking advantage of a senior citizen in a financial transaction, I learned that the victim, Ms. Elliott, purchased the property from an attorney who signed a document that he was unaware of any liens, fines, etc., which was a lie.
Myers noted the fraud when citing three Florida statutes to officials a couple of weeks ago, showing that their lack of assistance to Elliott alone made them liable, and then slammed her with a nearly $50K bill.
"All of the council members expressed concerns, except Charles Bare," Myers said. "I am proud of Councilman Jones for his efforts to reduce the fines."
I will end this report with a question reader. I want you to imagine Beverly Elliott as your grandmother. If she were, would you care more? Would you stand up to officials for her?
Ask yourself that.
If the answer is yes, do it. Send an email, make a call, do anything.
