(PENSACOLA) --- In the end love wins.
Just ask Saint Valentine.
The Christian martyr, often associated with fat cupids, displays the true meaning of his purpose, to share the Gospel with persecuted Christians.
He was beheaded and buried on Feb. 14, 273 A.D.

With the presesnt state of affairs on the upcoming day, there should be no argument about us all being kind to one another just for a day. Literally, loving your neighbor as yourself on the day of love.
Could you imagine if we all did that everyday?
While you ponder said question, I offer Pensacola's day of lovelist of things to do. From Cat Bingo to a simple walk on the beach, locals here will not lack for love or discounts.
If staring into the eyes of your loved one is the idea for the day, check out Open Table or Yelp, both offering the best eateries to break bread at. But don't let the holiday commercialism fool you. All you need is love, which is free or at least discounted by hundreds with these creative things to do.
Take for example the Coastal Cat Cafe. The reserved the whole week with things to do, including Cat Bingo, Galenties Pawty and Speed Friending. Yes, you heard it. You don't have to be looking for love to have fun meeting new people along with resident cats.

And if the furry love of your life is a dog and not a cat, then take your dog to anyone of Pensacola's dog parks.
Bayview Dog Beach, 200 E. Lloyd St., Roger Scott Dog Park, 2000 Summit Blvd.; and Ashton Brosnham Dog Park, 10 Chris Black Dr., all make it possible to spend an hour alone with an animal that surely loves you more than most humans do.

If you're still at a loss for something to do, Visit Pensacola puts out some ideas, from a free walk on the beach to a pricier night at Saenger Theatre.
The website also points out a Valentine's Day party, a family-friendly event for all.

Lastly, I will share what I and my husband are doing for under $5.
We are going to get a lock and engrave our initials and marriage date on click it for good on the Graffiti Bridge fence.
We also lost our dog Ranger this year, so I think we may get one for him. Locking our love on the fence will become a tradition, God willing we can return next year.

No matter what you do on Feb. 14, only one thing is actually required and totally free: Love.
