(OPGOV.NEWS GLOBAL) --- Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is threatening reporters who ask about the grand jury report alleging Governor Ron DeSantis took advantage of taxpayers' funds.
According to the grand jury report, a $10 million Medicaid settlement was channeled through Hope Florida and two nonprofits. After the money was funneled, it allegedly ended up in a political committee against the proposal to legalize cannabis.

When you Google Hope Florida, it is a community welfare system designed to partner with government, the private sector, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations to assist the less fortunate in Florida; you see its direct affiliation with the Florida Department of Education, Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
The Miami Herald pointed out that, rather than answer a journalist, the Florida attorney general told the reporter, “Leaking a grand jury report is a first-degree misdemeanor.”
“Uthmeier, who refused to discuss the report beyond calling it a politically motivated hoax, told the reporter to look up a Florida statute banning criminal solicitation.” The Miami Herald reported. “Are you trying to solicit a crime here in violation of the law?”
While Uthmeier is busy threatening journalists, the Tampa Bay Times reports “a grand jury tried to find out how taxpayer funds landed in the coffers of a political committee operated by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier — without asking him directly, according to a copy of the grand jury report.”
According to the grand jury report, “testimony also revealed that Mr. Uthmeier’s Keep Florida Clean, a political action committee, was the prime recipient of the majority of the $10 million taxpayer funds.”
When authorities question Uthmeier, will he be ready to receive the same retort he is threatening others with?
Only time will tell how Uthmeier and DeSantis will respond to the report's allegations; until then, the November General election is around the corner, and if it is true, all DeSantis endorsements may lose some credibility on the campaign trail.
