(WALNUT CREEK, CA) - The Walnut Creek Police Department announced the results of Operation Summer Heat, a multi-agency undercover operation that led to the arrest of five individuals accused of using social media to target minors for sexual exploitation.
The operation, conducted on July 29 in partnership with the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, focused on identifying and apprehending individuals who allegedly attempted to meet minors for sexual purposes.

According to Walnut Creek police, those arrested were:
Billie Ray Breland, 29, Antioch
Andrew Garcia, 32, Concord
Taesu Park, 36, Marin County
Rudolf Naused Robl, 42, (visitor from Germany)
Jacek Markiewicz, 67, Walnut Creek

Police said all five suspects were booked on charges including attempted lewd acts with a minor, contacting a minor to commit a sex offense, and arranging to meet a minor for sex. Markiewicz also faces an additional charge of attempted kidnapping.
The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office confirmed that charges have been filed against the individuals. Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned, while the remaining defendants are scheduled for preliminary hearings.
“The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has been an integral part of my office’s policies on public safety,” Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton said. “Operation Summer Heat is an example of how the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement work together in making Contra Costa County safer from those who engage in criminal acts to harm children.”
The operation involved the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Contra Costa County Probation Department, the San Francisco Sheriff's Office, the Marin County District Attorney's Office, Contra Costa County's Human Trafficking Unit, and the police departments of Moraga, Brentwood, San Ramon, Concord, Menlo Park, Hercules, Pleasant Hill, Oakley, and Walnut Creek.
