(OPGOV GLOBAL) – Students at colleges and universities nationwide have faced uncertainty as the Trump administration has introduced changes affecting higher education policies, including international student visas, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs and federal funding agreements.
The administration’s actions have resulted in legal challenges from universities, educators and advocacy organizations as institutions review how new federal requirements could affect students, academic programs and campus services.
Federal officials have increased oversight of international student visa programs as part of broader immigration enforcement efforts.
The changes have raised concerns among some students and universities about enrollment, degree completion, and international students' ability to remain in the United States while pursuing their education.
International students make up a significant portion of enrollment at many universities and contribute to academic research, campus programs and university communities.
