A sweeping series of break-ins left local shop owners, restaurateurs, and residents shaken as a crew of thieves smashed through glass doors and storefront windows across downtown Danville. The early-morning spree, which targeted nearly a dozen local establishments—including popular spots like Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant, Sultan's Kebab, Dolce Beaute, and Kibi's Cafe—resulted in thousands of dollars in property damage, broken cash registers, and stolen items.
The string of burglaries began around 3:45 a.m., according to local reporting and security footage from affected shopping centers. Surveillance video captured a small group of masked individuals using specialized tools to rapidly shatter glass entryways, move through cash registers, and exit within minutes.
For many small business owners, the physical property destruction far outweighed the cash stolen by the burglars. At Kibi’s Cafe on Railroad Avenue, an employee stated that thieves broke open a window and stole roughly $300 from the cash register. Nearby at Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant, security footage showed three individuals smashing through the front glass, damaging cash registers, and taking bottles of alcohol.
Local business owners expressed frustration over the repeated vulnerability of small storefronts in the region. Abdullah Dinc, owner of Sultan's Kebab, noted that while the thieves left his restaurant empty-handed during this break-in, it followed a far more severe theft months prior. Dinc recalled that "burglars stole approximately $20,000 from the business during a previous incident." Meanwhile, an employee at Dolce Beaute reported that the intruders "stole snacks and pulled down a surveillance camera," highlighting the seemingly random and destructive nature of the spree.
Despite the costly cleanup, emergency glass replacements, and structural repairs, affected storefronts quickly reopened to serve the community the following morning.

The Danville Police Department reported that officers are reviewing surveillance footage and working closely with nearby law enforcement agencies to track down the suspects. Officials are examining potential links between this spree and similar early-morning commercial burglaries reported recently across the East Bay, including a similar August incident at San Ramon's Crow Canyon Plaza.
