First up is the Birdfest and Bluegrass Festival.

“BirdFest & Bluegrass turns one October Saturday into a full celebration of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge—and the reason for the timing is a bird. Each fall, the endangered Sandhill Crane returns to winter at the Refuge, joining hundreds of other migratory species that pass through its wetlands,” Visit Vancouver site said.
The festival marks that return with activities that include live bluegrass music, local shopping, and crafts in downtown Ridgefield.

It is never too early to think about picking out your pumpkins for the season.
Next up is Pumpkin Lane, presented by Pomeroy Living History Farm.

The event will be held on weekends in October and includes mile-long hayrides, a pumpkin patch, activities for children, and farm animals.
“Join us for Pumpkin Lane, and one of our favorite times of the year - fall on the farm. Take a hayride down Pumpkin Lane where you'll see dozens of "pumpkin people" scenes. While you're here, you can pick out the perfect pumpkin, enjoy our many photo-ops, and explore the historic farm grounds, including farm animals and several kids’ activities. We will have coffee and food vendors on site,” pomeroyfarm.org said.

For those wanting something a bit spookier, consider the Clark County Historical Museum’s Haunted Walking Tours.

The tours will lead participants on a one-mile route through Vancouver’s downtown. Along the way, tales of tragedies, and unexplained corners of Clark County history that have been gathered from community memory, local archives, and the writing of Clark County historian Pat Jollota.
Tours will run Friday and Saturday evenings, September 4 through October 31, 2026, departing at 7:00 PM from the Clark County Historical Museum.
The route covers about a mile of downtown on foot, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for fall weather. The tours will take place rain or shine.
“A flashlight is handy after dark, and costumes are welcome for anyone who wants to lean into the spirit of the evening. The tour is best suited for ages 10 and up,” Visit Vancouver website said.

Finally, for those whose fall traditions include scary movies, the Cinema of Horrors at the Clark County Fairgrounds might be just what you are looking for.

The Cinema of Horrors is a live-action horror movie experience where screams from the screen come to life. A number of some of the scariest horror blockbusters, complete with monsters lurking outside your car window.
This unique, drive-in experience lasts approximately two hours depending on film length and features high-quality sound and lighting, in-car audio, Hollywood quality makeup, monsters, and terrifying twists. Please see FAQ for safety precautions. There is no age limit, but most of the films to be presented will be rated PG-13 or R.
