(GRANITE BAY, CA.) — California State Parks is seeking qualified businesses to operate food services and beach equipment rentals at Beals Point, located within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (SRA).
OpGov.news reports the state is offering a lucrative 10-year concession contract for the Placer County destination. Interested vendors have until Tuesday, September 15, to submit their official proposals.
Mandatory Tour and Meeting Details
To qualify for the bidding process, all applicants must attend a mandatory site tour and pre-proposal meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 14.
10:30 a.m. – Facility tour begins at the Beals Point concession facility.
11:30 a.m. – Pre-proposal informational meeting at the Granite Bay Activity Center.
Attendees must enter through the state park kiosk located at 8000 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay, 95746, where staff will provide driving directions to the activity center. Missing either portion of this meeting will result in immediate disqualification from the bidding process.
Critical Deadlines
In addition to attending the mandatory July meeting, prospective operators must adhere to the following timeline:
Wednesday, August 19 (by 5 p.m.): Deadline to submit a formal Letter of Intent to Bid and any RFP-related questions. Failure to submit this letter disqualifies the final proposal.
Tuesday, September 15: Final day to submit completed concession proposals.
About the Opportunity
Beals Point is a highly trafficked day-use and overnight destination within the Folsom Lake SRA. The facility features a lifeguarded swimming beach, 400 parking spaces, picnic areas, and a popular campground equipped with 49 tent sites and 20 full-hookup RV sites. The wider recreation area draws significant regional crowds for boating, fishing, hiking, and cycling along its famous 32-mile bike path connecting to Old Sacramento.
