(BRICK, N.J.) --- Law enforcement made two arrests of local heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and pill distributors.
On Monday, August 31, the Brick Township Police Department announced that its Street Crimes Unit conducted an extensive investigation and had uncovered two individuals who had been distributing “dangerous substances” in the Ocean County area.
A 45-year-old Brick resident, Charles Duffy, was taken into custody on August 26 after a court-authorized search warrant was issued on his residence. An adult woman, later identified as Latasha Chaneyfield, was also found in the residence at the time of the search and was taken into custody.

The search led to significant quantities of different substances, including cocaine, fentanyl, and other opioids.
The Special Emergency Response Team seized approximately 189 grams of suspected cocaine and/or crack cocaine, 286 individual glassine wax folds containing suspected heroin/fentanyl, approximately 82 grams of suspected MDMA, approximately 57 grams of suspected fentanyl, and approximately 29 grams of suspected oxycodone pills, according to the BTPD.
The BTPD stated that after the different substances were found, the team located and seized a digital money counter, vacuum sealer, digital scale, suspected cutting agents, packaging materials, and more than $2,500 in cash.
Duffy was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute five ounces or more of cocaine/crack cocaine and maintaining a controlled substance production facility.
He also received second-degree charges of possession with intent to distribute MDMA and heroin/fentanyl, two counts of endangerment of a child, and being an individual who is prohibited from possessing weapons.
Additional charges are third-degree possession of Heroin/Fentanyl, Cocaine/Crack Cocaine, MDMA, Oxycodone, Xanax, Tramadol, Adderall, and money laundering. An additional charge Duffy is facing is possession of drug paraphernalia.
The BTPD noted that Duffy was taken to the Ocean County jail pending his first court appearance.
Chaneyfield’s third-degree charges include conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of heroin/fentanyl, cocaine, and MDMA. Her additional charges include fourth-degree conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl and possession of paraphernalia.
