Empowering communities through transparent governance
(EL PASO) – The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Student led organization Turning Point USA lived up to its core values: Educate and Change for its student body and those who are willing to listen or join the grassroot organization.
Whitehouse Border Czar Tom Holman spoke about various topics that those in attendance supported City and County Officials, and Congresswoman Escobar weighed and opposed the idea altogether.

Open Governance Initiative reached out to Congresswoman Veronica Escobar’s Office via email but did not receive a response before the deadline. OpGov.ai wanted to find out if her stance remained the same, or if it had changed after seeing the different local news media at the event with coverage on Holman’s visit to UTEP’s Undergraduate Learning Center (UGLC Building).
KTEP News Director Aaron Montes posted this insightful report where he describes the ambiance outside the UGLC Building. More details about the event can be found in this Instagram reel.
OpGov.ai also caught up with Angelica Rodriguez, A Turning Point President who pointed out that she often remembers Diana Natalicio, Former UTEP President when thinking about Change.

Late President Natalicio emphasized that “Access and excellence are not mutually exclusive.” Rodriguez says that her vision motivates us, and we’re working to make sure UTEP stays true to that legacy.
UTEPs local Chapter A Turning Point has continued the late Charlie Kirk’s legacy to Limited Government, Free Speech and Christian Values.
The National Chapter – Turning Point has published a book in Kirk’s honor, titled “How America Wins: “Keeping Up The Fight For America.” Despite the indifference between local, county and congressional level, the Student Body Organization invited Tom Holman, Border Czar who advocates strict immigration enforcement, focusing on massive detention, increased ICE funding, and aggressive deportations.

Student led protestors congregated outside the university protesting President Trump’s orders to Mr. Holman on the way he is to enforce the immigration situations. A local news media outlet acquired a sign to show viewers during their 10:00 PM newscast that read: “Broken Borders Breed Terrorism” which was the focal point of Holman’s Speech. Holman did not go into much detail but did hear from those in attendance addressing one of many topics of concern when it comes to homelessness.

On the contrary, Holman supporters were seen chanting, creating a positive atmosphere as Holman walked in the room to approach the podium. Attendees were heard chanting in support of Holman’s presence at the University Campus.
OpGov.ai intended to get a statement from Holman himself, but due to strong law enforcement presence, was unable to speak to him.
