(PENSACOLA) --- The Blue Angels went viral for the wrong reason.

A low flyover Wednesday morning gained national attention, with nearly every major media outlet reporting on what is being called a “low-altitude pass” by the C-130 support aircraft during a “Breakfast with the Blues,” part of the Pensacola Beach Air Show week.
According to Military.com, a “Navy spokesperson told Military.com that the service is aware of social media footage showing what it described as ‘a low-altitude pass’ by team aircraft.”
The same unnamed spokesman also told the media outlet, “An aircraft flew lower than standard profiles, resulting in a disturbance on the beach that affected civilian chairs and umbrellas.”
But it was more than just chairs and umbrellas, according to the media outlet.
“On social media, some spectators who said they've watched the Blue Angels for years called the pass unsafe, describing people falling and twisting ankles as they tried to duck the flying gear,” Military.com reports.
The negative press caught the attention of President Donald Trump, who came to the defense of the famous Navy aircraft team. Many locals also praised the flyover, reporting on local media that it will be a moment they will never forget.

The low-flyover is under investigation, with no word on whether the pilot will face disciplinary action for the move.

In the meantime, the negative press adds to the recent July 4 shooting, which also gained national attention, proving that summer 2026 safety here can be questionable either downtown or on the beach.
