(ALABAMA) -- The race for Governor in Alabama has trickled down too close to call at this time, with Republican candidate and former Senator Tommy Tuberville in the lead- though that hasn't stopped Tuberville from declaring an early victory as reported by WSFA12.
Tuberville ran against Democratic candidate, attorney, and former Senator Doug Jones in a very close race.
The race came down to a measly 5%, with Tuberville earning 778,037 to Jones' 703,423 at the time of this publication.

"Winning is not an accident; winning is a decision, and tonight, Alabama decided to win," he said. The Associated Press had not yet called the race at the time of Tuberville's speech.
Tuberville will succeed term-limited Republican Governor Kay Ivey, who had been in office since 2017.
OpGov.News will continue to cover this story as updates become available.
