8 Things To Do Around Atlanta This Week

(ATLANTA, Geor.) - If you're looking for something to do around Atlanta this week, there’s plenty going on — from film festivals and food events to live music, art, and cultural celebrations.

Here are eight things happening around the city from September 28 through October 4.

Atlanta Culture Week

September 28-October 4 | Various locations

Atlanta Culture Week is marking its 10th anniversary with seven days of events celebrating the city's food, music, art, entertainment, and creative communities.

The week includes a black-tie opening event Monday, a rooftop evening Tuesday, an interactive art experience Wednesday, a live music event Thursday, a Friday celebration of Atlanta, and a Saturday wellness event. The week wraps with a Sunday block party featuring music and food. Two of the events — Saturday's wellness event and Sunday's block party — still have locations listed as TBD. Out On Film

September 24 - October 4 | Landmark's Midtown Art Cinema

Atlanta's annual LGBTQ+ film festival is in the middle of its 39th year and runs through October 4. Out On Film features LGBTQ+ films along with filmmaker events and other programming.

The festival is based at Landmark's Midtown Art Cinema. A virtual encore will also be available through October 11 for some of the festival's programming. See the 2026 schedule here.

Georgia Latino International Film Festival

September 30-October 4 | Multiple Atlanta-area venues

The Georgia Latino International Film Festival returns for its 15th year with five days of Latino films, industry panels, workshops, and other events.

The festival opens Wednesday at the Fox Theatre with a red carpet, opening ceremony, and Changemaker Awards. The weekend includes short films, narrative features, and industry panels at Silverspot Cinema at The Battery before the festival wraps Sunday with closing films and an awards ceremony. Taste Brookhaven

October 1 | Brookhaven City Centre

Come hungry. Taste Brookhaven brings together more than a dozen local restaurants for an evening of food, drinks, and live entertainment.

General admission includes unlimited tastings from more than 12 Brookhaven restaurants, along with beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails. There will also be live entertainment and a raffle benefiting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Get tickets and see event details here.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra opening weekend

October 1-4 | Atlanta Symphony Hall

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra opens its new season with Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann conducting a program featuring Brahms.

The concert includes Brahms' Violin Concerto, with violinist Johan Dalene, followed by the composer's Symphony No. 1. The program opens with Handel's Overture to Music for the Royal Fireworks. Performances are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. See performance times and tickets here.

Atlanta Horror Film Festival

October 1-4 | 7 Stages Theatre

The Atlanta Horror Film Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary with four days of independent horror films in Little Five Points.

This year's festival features 96 films, including features and themed short-film programs. Filmmaker Q&As, panels, mixers, and after-parties are also planned throughout the weekend. Atlanta Arab Festival

October 3-4 | Alif Institute

The annual Atlanta Arab Festival is a free, family-friendly weekend celebrating Arab and Arab-American culture.

Visitors can watch live performances, grab food from the Arab world food court, shop at the festival's souq, and take part in exhibits, workshops, and games. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, with free admission and parking. See festival details here.

The Other Art Fair

October 1-4 | Grant Park

The Other Art Fair is coming to Atlanta for its first local edition, bringing independent artists together for a weekend of art, installations, and shopping.

The fair is designed to be a more casual way to browse and buy work directly from independent artists, with more than 100 artists expected to participate. See event information and tickets here.
